File formats supported by CameraWindow. ========================================== CameraWindow supports the following image file formats. - Files of images taken using a Canon camera - JPEG image files that conform to the DCF standard 3. Communicating with a Canon camera. ==================================== (1) During communication between CameraWindow and the Canon camera, do not unplug the cable between the camera and PC, use the Canon camera's mode dial, memory card slot cover lock release switch or battery cover lock switch. Depending on your PC environment, using one of these may result in malfunctions. (2) Do not put your computer in Standby mode while a Canon camera is connected to the USB or IEEE1394 port. If you put your computer in Standby mode while a Canon camera is connected to the USB or IEEE1394 port, leave the camera connected and bring the computer out of Standby mode without unplugging the cable from the computer. Unplugging the cable from the computer while in Standby mode may cause some computers to fail to come out of Standby mode correctly. See the user manual for your computer for more information about Standby mode. (3) CameraWindow cannot connect to a camera that is currently in communication with another application. If the camera is communicating with other software, exit the application that is communicating with the camera and restart CameraWindow. 4. Downloading images. ========================= (1) Before you download images to the computer using CameraWindow, check that you have enough free space on the target disk. If you download images to a disk that does not have enough free space, image transfer may stop midway and fail to finish properly. (2) Even if protection was set for images in CameraWindow, the image files will not become read-only files when they are downloaded to the computer. Use Windows Explorer to make the image files on the computer read-only files. 5. Formatting memory cards while camera images are displayed. ============================================================ If a memory card is formatted from the [Camera settings] option in the menu that appears after clicking the [Set] button in CameraWindow that displays camera images, some computers may experience malfunctions. For example, the image display window may freeze and not respond to operations. If this happens with your computer, please refrain from formatting the memory card from CameraWindow and use the camera body itself to format the memory card instead.
