------------------------------------------------------------------ Canon Camera/DV TWAIN Driver Version 6.5 ------------------------------------------------------------------ COPYRIGHT (C) 2003-2004 CANON INC. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for purchasing a Canon camera. This Readme file contains up-to-date information about the Canon Camera/DV TWAIN Driver. Please read this file before using this driver for the first time. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Issues with the TWAIN Driver: The TWAIN standard is regularly updated, and software development companies incorporate these changes in their new applications. However, problems may occur if the application does not fully support the TWAIN standard. In order to ensure that users can use our software without any problems, Canon works closely with a number of software development companies to solve these problems. Contents 1. Problems with some display cards 2. RAW images and movie files 3. Compatibility issues 4. Communication between Canon Camera/DV TWAIN Driver and the camera 5. Issue with Installation 1. Problems with some display cards Starting this driver from Photoshop 5.0 LE may result in unstable operation of some display cards. If this happens, run "dispinit.exe" before starting Photoshop 5.0 LE. We recommend that you register "dispinit.exe" as a Windows startup program, as it has to be run on every computer startup. The "dispinit.exe" program is located in the same folder as the installer program (setup.exe). 2. RAW images and movie files You cannot view thumbnail images of RAW images and movie images using this driver. You should therefore always check the contents of a memory card before formatting it. 3. Compatibility issues After testing many TWAIN-compatible applications and operating environments, we have identified the following compatibility problem. The maximum amount of images that can be transferred to Photoshop 5.0 LE in one go is 30. 4. Communication between Canon Camera/DV TWAIN Driver and the camera (1) When opened, the driver will periodically communicate with a camera that is connected to the computer. During communication with the camera, do not operate any of the camera's switches, remove the camera's memory card or battery, or unplug the communication cable. Depending on your computer's operating environment, doing any of the above could result in faulty operation of your computer. You should therefore close the driver before doing any of the above. (2) Do not put your computer into standby mode or hibernation mode while the camera is connected to the computer's USB port. If you have accidentally put your computer into standby or hibernation mode while the camera is still connected to the computer's USB port, resume from standby or hibernation mode with the cable still plugged in. If you pull out the cable while still in standby or hibernation mode, you may not be able to resume correctly from standby or hibernation mode, depending on the computer model. Please refer to your computer's manual for more details about standby mode and hibernation mode. 5. Issue with Installation When installing this driver, the install may not complete successfully if you select a root drive, such as the c:\ drive, or an existing folder as the installation destination folder. In this case, uninstall and install again selecting create a new folder.
