This could be related to your computer and its graphics card. If you see this symptom, please adjust the "Hardware Acceleration" slider control in the "Performance"/"Trouble Shooting" tab of the Display Adapter Properties Dialog on your computer so that it is set one notch below "Full". 1.2 Display settings You may view or change the Display settings on your computer using the "Settings" tab of the "Display Properties" dialog. The "Display Properties" Dialog may be accessed from the Control Panel on your computer. 1.2.1 Some text may not be visible at default window size when using the "Large Fonts" Display setting If your computer has the "Large Fonts" Display setting selected, some of the text in ZoomBrowser EX task steps windows may not be visible at the default window size. If this happens, resize the ZoomBrowser EX window so all text is visible. 1.2.2 On some operating systems, avoid using the 16 bit High Color Display setting Users of Windows 98 in 16bit high color mode may experience unusual graphic display of the ZoomBrowser EX interface. This can be resolved by changing the "Colors" Display setting to 24bit true color or above. 2. Upgrading from ZoomBrowser EX version 2/version 3 ---------------------------------------------------- If you have added comments or titles to your images using ZoomBrowser EX version 2 or version 3, you will have to run a database converter tool prior to being able to view these comments/titles in this version of ZoomBrowser EX. The database converter tool is called dbconverter.exe and may be found at the location where you installed this version of ZoomBrowser EX. 3. Sending E-mail ----------------- 3.1 MAPI support is required The E-mail facility requires a compatible Mapi32.dll to be installed in order to function correctly. A Mapi32.dll is installed when MAPI communication is enabled in your usual e-mail program. If an older incompatible version of a Mapi32.dll is currently installed and MAPI is not enabled in your usual e-mail program, enabling MAPI in this program should install a compatible Mapi32.dll. If MAPI is already enabled in the e-mail program, the e-mail program needs to be upgraded and MAPI enabled. 4. Backup to CD (Windows XP only) ----------------------------------------- 4.1 Error message and backup failure when insufficient CD free space ZoomBrowser EX may show a message stating that there is insufficient space on the CD during the final stages of the Backup to CD task. This happens when the total size of the selected images is very close to total available free space on the CD and there is insufficient space on the CD to store some additional ZoomBrowser EX information files. When this happens, the selected images are not backed up to the CD. Please reduce the number of selected images and start the Backup to CD task again. 4.2 Do not turn off power to CD writer during Backup to CD Please do not turn off power to a CD burner while in the Backup to CD task. This may cause errors in ZoomBrowser EX. If this happens, please start ZoomBrowser EX again. 5. Read-only images/folders --------------------------- You may browse images in a read-only folder or CD-ROM, but you will not be able to associate comments with images in these folders. This restriction also applies to images that are flagged as read-only. If you do want to save a comment for a read-only image, please clear the read-only check box for this image using Windows Explorer. 6. Other Issues --------------- 6.1 Starting ZoomBrowser EX after abnormal termination of the Remote Shooting application If the Remote Shooting application terminates abnormally, you may not be able to start ZoomBrowser EX thereafter. If this happens, please restart your computer. 6.2 Avoid manipulating images using other tools while the images are being accessed in ZoomBrowser EX It is recommended that you do not delete, move or change any images using other applications while you are accessing these images within ZoomBrowser EX. 6.3 Avoid using extremely long file/folder names On some operating systems, ZoomBrowser EX may behave abnormally when trying to access files or folders with extremely long names. If this happens, please change the file/folder to have a shorter name. 6.4 Do not uninstall ZoomBrowser EX while ZoomBrowser EX is running If you try to uninstall ZoomBrowser EX while ZoomBrowser EX is running, the uninstall will partially work and only some of the files will be removed. Please do not uninstall ZoomBrowser EX while ZoomBrowser EX is running. 6.5 Images rotated using the File Viewer Utility may not be correctly displayed in ZoomBrowser EX ZoomBrowser EX may not correctly display images that have been rotated using the File Viewer Utility. If this happens, please rename or make a copy of the image using windows explorer, then view the new image in ZoomBrowser EX. The new image should then be displayed correctly. 6.6 Unsupported Image formats Some image formats have many variations. ZoomBrowser EX may not support all such variations and, therefore, may not show the unsupported images correctly. To view such an image within ZoomBrowser EX, please open the image in an image editor that supports its particular format and then save the image in a format supported by ZoomBrowser EX (e.g. JPEG format). 6.7 Do not eject a CD during Slide Show Please do not eject a CD from which the ZoomBrowser EX Slide Show is displaying images as this could cause errors. If this happens, exit and re-start ZoomBrowser EX. 6.8 Copy function not available from menus on Windows 98 The Copy function is not available from the ZoomBrowser EX Edit menu or right-click menu on Windows 98. You can Copy and Paste images/folders by dragging and dropping them while holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard. 6.9 Sending RAW images to Layout Print or Contact Sheet Print tasks If you select a RAW file and start either the [Layout Print] or [Contact Sheet Print] task, the RAW file is developed into a temporary file and the temporary file is printed. Thus, if you save an album containing a RAW file, the RAW file may not appear in the album when it is opened. If this occurs, please develop the RAW file using the [Process RAW Images] task and save it to another format, then add this new image to the album. 6.10 Large images may not install as a wallpaper on Windows 98, Windows ME When using the 'Export as a Wallpaper' task in ZoomBrowser EX, you may not be able to set a large image as a wallpaper on Windows 98 or Windows ME. You may set such an image as a wallpaper after you resize the image to fit your current display size. For example, if your display size is 1600x1200, please resize the image to 1600x1200 prior to setting it as your wallpaper. You can resize your image by using the 'Export Still Images' task from the 'Export' Category in ZoomBrowser EX. 7.
