IBM ThinkPad September 10, 2000 IBM Portable Drive Bay Device Drivers for Windows 95/98/NT and 2000 ======================================================================== This package file contains the following versions: Version 4.00c - Windows 95/98 Version 4.00f - Windows NT Version 5.00f - Windows 2000 Installation instructions ========================= Windows 95/98 Do not have the PC Card installed in the system at this time. 1. Start Windows 95/98. 2. Download the file to the hard disk. 3. Double-click on the file to extract it to the hard drive (the default directory is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY). 4. Insert the PC Card for the Portable Drive Bay. After the Hardware Wizard detects new hardware it will prompt you for the drivers for the new device. Change the location to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY\WIN95 (or the custom location the drivers were extracted to). 5. After the drivers are installed, it will prompt you to restart the system. Make sure there are no programs running, remove any diskettes from the floppy drive, and click "Yes" to restart the computer. Windows NT Do not have the PC Card installed in the system at this time. 1. Start Windows NT and Log on with Administrative privileges. 2. Download the file to the hard disk. 3. Double-click on the file to extract it to the hard drive (the default directory is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY). 4. Click on "Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> SCSI Adapters". 5. Click on "Add". Be sure to change the location where Windows NT will look for the driver. Change the location to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY (or the custom location the drivers were extracted to). 6. Select "IBM Portable Drive Bay" and click "OK". 7. When prompted for the location of the drivers, change the location to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY\WINNT (or the custom location the drivers were extracted to). 8. After the drivers are installed, it will prompt you to restart the system. Make sure there are no programs running, remove any diskettes from the floppy drive, and click "Yes" to restart the computer. Windows 2000 Do not have the PC Card installed in the system at this time. 1. Start or install Windows 2000. (The portable drive bay does not support the actual installation of Windows 2000.) 2. Log on to Windows 2000 with Administrative privileges. 3. Download the file to the hard disk. 4. Double-click on the file to extract it to the hard drive (the default directory is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY\ 5. Insert the PCMCIA-IDE card into the PCMCIA slot, 6. Windows 2000 will auto detect the card and ask for drivers. Point the install path to "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\PORTBAY\WIN2K". If you extracted the files to a different directory, specify that path instead. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen.
