When you install SCC in a non-default folder, it will not run as the last stage of the installation. The shortcuts in the program group will work however.

SCC for Windows uses Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and perl. Installation of WMI can be tested by starting the application "wbemtest". SCC has been developed and tested with perl from ActiveState: http://www/activestate.com Be sure that the location of perl.exe has been added to the %PATH% variable when SCC is started.

SCC collects configuration data in snapshots. Consecutive snapshots are compared and differences are added to a logbook. The snapshot and logfiles are converted to html. Due to the use of WMI, the configuration data of other systems on the network also can be retreived. It's recommended to run SCC for Windows once a day. To schedule SCC you can use your own favourite scheduler.

For sending the snapshot, logfile and html-files to a centralized SCC-server, mail or scp can be used. If scp is used, be sure that the ssh-protocol is installed and configured. If mail is used and send to a SCC-server over the Internet we highly recommend the use of encryption, for this you need to install the public key of the SCC server and configure the location of the public key.
